review: send a bullet

Send a Bullet is a documentary-style film about the corruption and class warfare in Sao Paulo, Brazil —a place where kidnapping is rampant, even the extremely wealthy don’t feel safe, and corrupt politicians embezzle untold amounts of money from reform initiatives (SADUM). With a population of over 20 million it is virtually impossible to police. Crime hasn’t only been legitimized it has become the only way to survive.

More about crime in Brazil here: Crime and Safety Report (2007)

The film does a really great job showing the different aspects in which crime has influenced Brazil. If you get a chance to see this I highly recommend it.

Eagle Eye Trailer

Shia is everywhere!

I’m pretty sure that the $126 million that Indiana Jones brought in over the Memorial Day weekend ensures he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon —- and I am OKAY with that.

I just saw a teaser trailer for a new movie called Eagle Eye which IMDB has labeled as post-production. Set for release September 26th.

looks intense!

Do You Like the new Jason Mraz CD?

jeremywatt:

I’m still waiting to fall in love with the new Jason Mraz CD - We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. There’s a few obvious songs that I’m enjoying, but I’m not in that ‘play it front to back’ mode as of yet.

I like it but I would have to agree.  I feel like it is very top heavy — I think the first 6-7 tracks are good but I’m not feeling the rest of the CD.  Was it intentional?  Did he run out of steam?  I’m not sure.  If he came back to Pittsburgh on tour would I see him again?  Absolutely.

Take my favorite song on the new CD - butterfly?  Why do I like it?  Because it’s fun and funky and I feel like dancing uncontrollably when I hear it.  It’s much more reminiscent of old Mraz.  With all that being said I’m sure it will grow on me.

we ain't in Kansas anymore...

It is fan-fucking-tastic out there today.  I just got back from a bike ride in Highland park, which has been my sanctuary as of late (fo reals).

Apart from the whole being a park thing the area is incredibly nice.  However, as with any neighborhood I guess there are good parts and there are bad parts.  Never has this been more true than in Highland park.  For example, one minute I’m riding around in a neighborhood characterized by beautiful stone mansions with lush green grass and a huge hill and a sharp left turn later I’m literally in the ghetto (fo reals).  Like broken glass and barbed wire, cars sitting on cider-blocks, and people shoutin ‘you don’t belong here honkey’ kind of ghetto.  Where did the mansions and green grass go?

I’ll admit I was a little scared, but I did what I had to do — I put some 50 cent on the ipod, tipped my helmet to the side, and pedal as fast as I could towards the giant green dome (seriously, Its the only building I recognized).

You’re WAY too classy for Matt Damon, get over here and take my moustache for a ride.

New MP3 Revolutionizes Way You Listen to Music

Korean computer engineers are introducing a new digital music format that has a six-channel audio equalizer and separate controls on the sound volume for each musical instrument, such as guitar, drum, base and voice. The new format, which has a file extension format of MT9 and a commercial title of “Music 2.0″, is poised to replace the popular MP3 file format as the de-facto standard of the digital music source, its inventors say

Rusted Root - Send Me On My Way

Perfect song for tonight’s sunset in SD.

In case you didn’t know, Rusted Root is from Pittsburgh (represent!)

Everytime I think about up and leaving this place I realize how much I love Pittsburgh.

I defeated Voldemort when I was a baby;
I was even awesome when I was a baby;
Both my parents died when I was baby;
I grew up abused without any love.

I should be ashamed that I love Potter Puppet Pals so much, but I ain’t. Check out the Mysterious Ticking Noise. It’s absurd how much we watched that video last year.

 no shame in it.
